November 4, 2009 Five of the 18 Semi Finalists in Washington University's Olin Cup competition are start up companies from ITEN. LangLearner, Lockerdome, Lynxess, pplShare, and WorldKi were selected to continue on to the next stage of the competition. They are competing for cash and great PR if chosen among the finalists.
Next up for the semifinalists is the Elevator Pitch Competition on Thursday, November 19, part of various events in the community celebrating the 3rd annual Global Entrepreneurship Week. At 6:00 that evening, the teams repeat their elevator pitches at a free event open to the public. In this exciting and fast-paced event, audience members will evaluate the teams using the same criteria the judges use, and will have the chance to “be the judge,” give the teams additional feedback, and win $250 if their score is the closest match to the judges.
The Olin Cup Competition is an annual business formation contest founded at Washington University in 1987 and operated by The Skandalaris Center for Entrepreneurial Studies. Teams compete for a total of $70,000 in seed investments -- awarded to those who create viable business ventures with a high probability of success.
